Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13 July 2026
Intermittently is built to be private. It has no account, shows no ads, and needs no network connection to do its job. This page explains, plainly, what that means for your data — and how to reach a real person if you need help.
The short version: Intermittently does not collect your data, does not send it to us, and has no analytics or tracking of any kind. Your fasting data lives on your device and, if you're signed in to iCloud, in your own private iCloud account. We never receive it.
Who we are
Intermittently is an independent app for iPhone and Apple Watch, developed by Zack Schiel. You can reach the developer directly at playquantumpuzzle@gmail.com.
What we collect
Nothing. Intermittently contains no analytics, no telemetry, no advertising, and no third-party tracking software of any kind. We do not create a profile about you, and there is no account to sign up for. We, the developer, do not receive your fasting records, your settings, your weight, or any other information from the app.
Where your data lives
- On your device. Your fasts, schedules, and settings are stored locally on your iPhone and Apple Watch. The app works fully offline.
- In your own iCloud (optional). If you are signed in to iCloud, the app uses Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) to back up and sync your data across your own devices, stored in your private iCloud account. This data goes only to your iCloud — it is governed by Apple's privacy policy, and the developer has no access to it. If you are not signed in to iCloud, everything still works; it simply stays on your device.
Apple Health (weight)
If you choose to enable it, Intermittently can read your body weight from Apple Health to show your weight and a simple trend. This is entirely optional — the app is fully functional without it.
- The app only ever reads weight from Apple Health. It never writes to Apple Health.
- Weight data read from Apple Health is used only to display it to you, on your device. It is never transmitted off your device to us or to anyone else.
- Health data is managed by Apple and governed by your device's Health permissions, which you can change or revoke at any time in the Settings app.
Notifications
Intermittently can send you local notifications (for example, when your fast reaches its goal or your eating window is closing). These are scheduled and delivered entirely on your device. There is no notification server, and no push data is sent to or from us.
Exporting your data
You can export your fasting history as a CSV or JSON file at any time, for free, from within the app. This export is created on your device and shared only where you choose to send it. Your data is yours.
Data sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with anyone, because we never receive it in the first place. There are no third-party advertisers, data brokers, or analytics providers involved in the app.
Children
Intermittently is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone. Because the app collects no personal information at all, it holds no data about users of any age.
Beta testing (TestFlight)
The version on the App Store collects nothing, as described above. Separately, if you ever choose to test a pre-release build through Apple's TestFlight, Apple collects certain information — such as crash logs, basic usage statistics, and any feedback you choose to send — and shares some of it with the developer to help improve the app. This is handled by Apple under Apple's TestFlight & Privacy policy, and applies only while you are in the TestFlight beta — never to the App Store release.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
